I contacted Bosch customer service earlier this week re an old (long out of warranty) DIY impact drill asking about the correct grade of grease to use on the internal gear mechanism. They would only recommend one particular part, a 225ml tube of grease, that is absurdly expensive relative to the cost of a similar new drill. I asked them if they could recommend an alternative with a lower quantity and cost, or tel me the grease specification. The reply was disappointing, unhelpful and quite rude.

So I'm posting here in the hope that another member with some experience of servicing drills will be able to recommend a grease with the right viscosity etc. The drill in question is a CSB 680-2RE impact drill, the grease Bosch suggest is 3 605 430 003 (3605430003) "GREASE TUBE Aluplex EP LF2" but 225ml is far more than necessary.

I don't mind if it's not the exact spec Bosch recommend as there is no warranty to be concerned about, I just want to extend the life of the drill a little longer so I can do a little masonry drilling at home (having spent quite a lot recently on other tools inc. a 10.8v cordless Bosch drill/driver that is my primary drill.)
