Just wondering what handle style other people are using, and why.
My first jigsaw (Elu) was a body or barrel grip style, eventually replaced by a similar style by Festool, which was an absolute pig of a tool.
I've since purchased a Bow handle GST 135 BCE Bosch, which I find a superior tool in every way.
Yet I notice most of my colleagues are using bodygrip jigsaws these days.
I remember reading somewhere that these body grip styles are used for cutting materials from underneath rather than above. I tried it on one or two occasions, but found it a bit scary, counterintuitive and inaccurate. Hence, back to the old fashioned bow handle cutting from above. Certainly more messy but much more accurate and controllable.
I've found jigsaws to be a rather rough and ready tool at the best of times, only really useful for cutouts and curves. And as for dust extraction: why bother? I'm just as likely to be cutting in Alu. & steel as wood, and I'm always scared of a stray spark setting the vac. on fire!
I'd like to hear others experiences with these tools.
